IRG collects approximately 2 million gallons of used oil each year and is the only oil recycler awarded “preferred status” by the Chicago Auto Trade Association. Used oil is tested to ensure that it is within the used oil specification and is ultimately sold to asphalt plants for industrial burner fuel (~85%) and to industries that produce asphalt crack sealer (15%). Used antifreeze is also collected and sold to anti-freeze recyclers. Used oil filters are crushed and sold to a scrap metal vendor.
